This type of box was used for storing tools and implements for textile weaving. The reeds are naturally a light brown-honey colour, with dyed black fronds worked horizontally into the warp to create a stepped pattern on the lid and a zoomorphic motif, perhaps llamas, on the front. Due to the dry climate, artifacts made of wood and textile have been discovered in remarkable condition from this culture, and this box is a fine example of the rich weaving traditions from the region.
