This year at Frieze Masters, we are honoured to present a curated selection of museum-quality Pre-Columbian artworks, spanning from 2000 BC. Our presentation features a rich array of pieces, from Ecuadorian cosmograms and deities to abstract-patterned textiles that influenced the vanguard art movements of the 20th century.
These works offer a profound connection to the natural and supernatural worlds, invoking the transcendence of elemental forces and sacred animals such as the jaguar, serpent, and eagle. In a world where modern life often dulls our awareness of these primal connections, these pieces serve as a reminder of the ancient wisdom and power embedded in nature.
They invite us to rediscover the enduring knowledge of life’s intrinsic paths—truths that time may cause us to forget but that are reignited each time we engage with these extraordinary works of art.
