Isabella Benshimol Toro (b. 1994, Caracas, Venezuela) is a London-based artist whose practice seeks to hold and cradle the ephemeral rhythms of everyday life. Drawing a technical parallel to photography, where a moment is chemically fixed onto film, Benshimol Toro utilises epoxy resin and silicone to encapsulate intimate objects, such as used fabrics and domestic detritus, into “monuments of the unconscious”. By suspending these fleeting moments in lustrous, transparent volumes, she creates a site for critical reflection on the value of the mundane. Her work functions as a contemporary fossil, transforming the fluid notion of the home into a permanent, archaeological record of presence.
Benshimol Toro completed her MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths, UK, and her BA in Visual Arts at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA), Italy. Her recent solo shows include The Phantom of Liberty, Institut Français, Berlin (2025); Rinse and Hold, ZÉRUÌ, London (2024); and Sketches, London (2024). She has also exhibited in cultural institutions such as CCCC Centro del Carmen Cultura Contemporánea (Valencia) and Artagon Pantin (Paris), and with galleries such as Artopia Gallery (Milan), Cecilia Brunson Projects (London), Rose Easton Gallery (London), Galería Elba Benítez (Madrid), and Timothy Taylor Gallery (London).
